Themes
A theme is the store's look: sections (one file each: HTML + Liquid + CSS + JS + the settings the merchant can edit), plus the header, footer, product card and page layouts.
How you work
- Connect —
nqs login: your browser opens, pick the site. - Develop —
nqs devuploads every save to the store's draft and reloads the preview. Shoppers never see the draft; you can share the preview link with the merchant. - Publish — the merchant publishes from their admin. On your dev store you can publish yourself:
nqs publish.
Errors show in your terminal with the file and line, and as a red box in the preview.
The commands you'll use
| Command | |
|---|---|
nqs init | a new theme project (ready for AI) |
nqs dev | sync + live preview |
nqs status | which store, draft and live versions, your rights |
nqs open | open the preview |
nqs publish | make the draft live (when you may) |
nqs pull | download the draft (or the live theme) |
nqs catalog | the store's real products, categories, pages |
Everything else — sections, settings, objects, page layouts — is in your project's AGENTS.md, written for your AI assistant (and for you). See Working with AI.
Good to know
- The merchant can open your draft in their builder, rearrange the homepage and publish. If you both changed the same thing,
nqstells you before anything is overwritten. - A theme never loses anything when the store switches themes: its code, settings and pages are kept.
- Keep
nqsup to date: it tells you when the store needs a newer version.
